Martial Arts Background

He intensively studied both Yang and Chen styles in Taijiquan.  He is one of the few high level students of the late Grand Master Fu Zhongwen of 4th generation Yang family Taijiquan.  He went to Chen's village over 10 times to study the Chen family's Taiji with the best Chen style Grand Masters, including Gu Liuxing and Chen Zhenglei.   His studies included many other internal and external arts such as Daojia (Taoist) Qigong, Xingyi, Bagua, and Sanda/Sanshou.

As a Martial Artist and Fighter, Master Liu has fought and won numerous professional fights in both Chinese traditional bare-handed fighting and modern Sanshou.  He is one of the few undefeated professionals out of China and has coached martial arts teams in both China and the U.S. - producing many outstanding martial artists and Sanshou fighting National and International Champions.

He is the head coach for the USA National Sanshou Team and the head of the USA Sanshou-Kungfu federation.  He has conducted seminars on Qigong, Taiji, Shaolin Kungfu and stress management in hospitals, companies and special police forces all over China, Japan, Europe and the US.  He directed the Sanshou competition at the 1995 World Wushu Championship.  He has produced and directed the US Open International Martial Arts Championships and K. He has been the chairman of the Pan American Sanshou technical committee.  He serves as President of East-West International Culture Exchange Inc. and is the director and head master of the Liu Institute of Shaolin-Taiji & Health-Wellness.  He is also an exercise physiologist.

In the late 70's, Sifu Liu entered the Traditional Chinese Medical School of Wuhsu, Anhui. After graduation, he served in both traditional Chinese hospitals and Chinese-Western rehabilitation hospitals as an acupuncture/acupressure and Qigong physician. Using these treatment methods, in addition to herbal medicine and Chinese balanced foods, he has brought thousands of patients back to their health.

Sifu Liu now offers his medical services to clients and integrates the practices of both the Eastern and Western world, providing optimum care and training.  In the last two years, he held seminars that toured over 22 cities across the United States and Pan America including Wizards of the Coast in Seattle, Center of Chinese Medicine, George Washington University Medical Center in Washington D.C., and the Brazil Wushu Federation in Brazil.  In addition to his Chinese education, Master Liu also holds a BA degree in English Literature and an MS degree in Exercise Physiology from the United States.
